Vernonia Christian Church (VCC) is a non-affiliated Restoration church located in the town of Vernonia, Oregon. Incorporated in 1891, Vernonia is a logging and recreation center located along the Nehalem River, northwest of Portland, with a population of 2260. At one time, Vernonia was the site of the largest electric saw mill in the world. Over the years, Vernonia has been transitioning from a logging town to a diverse community of people who love the rural setting the area provides. Vernonia Christian Church has served the Vernonia area since 1922.
Meet Our Minister
 On May 23rd, 2004, Samuel J. Hough agreed to serve Vernonia Christian Church as senior minister. Sam, his wife, Kari, and daughters, Averie Anna and Riley, come to us from Scottsville, New York. Sam has served in overseas missionary work and has experience as Youth Minister and Associate Minister. In addition, he has preached as fill-in speaker and in a variety of other outreach settings, particlarly in programs reaching the youth. Sam graduated from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO, with a dual major in New Testament and Missions.
Sam loves the outdoors, likes to build computers and use them, and enjoys fly fishing.
